happy 4th of july!

i know that i'm in canada and that this picture was actually taken on canada day. and... i think i generally behave fairly well as an stranger in a foreign land. i try to ignore digs at george bush, being able to buy guns at walmart and beer & cigarettes at a pharmacy, and comments about burning down the white house. i laughed at the comedy now canada day special. i think tim horton's has worked its way into my dna (altho ice capps are disgusting). i enjoy "free" healthcare. i've even been able to diminish my "american" accent for the most part (it comes out on rare occasions, especially after talking to my dad). all in all i love canada. but that's not what this is about.

today is the 4th of july-- and i'm american. and i think it triggers something uniquely rebellious, prideful, and just a little bit wistful somewhere deep inside me.

so yes, i'm living in canada but I AM AMERICAN and today, I'M PROUD OF IT! :D
